Aha Media Group is seeking freelance content strategists to join our growing team of remote digital marketing experts. Aha Media is a leading healthcare content marketing consultancy with services across content strategy, content operations, and copywriting. Our clients include academic medical centers, health systems, hospitals, and healthcare technology and medical device companies.

The ideal candidate will be an established freelancer who has experience developing website, channel marketing, and search optimization strategies for a healthcare organization. Candidates with experience on an in-house hospital / health system / academic medical center marketing or digital experience team is preferred. A successful person in this role will go above and beyond, every time.

What you would do

The freelance Content Strategist will lead content strategy projects for our clients, with support from our Director of Content Strategy and the account team; activities may include:

  • Content strategy consulting
  • Execute audit and discovery projects, including website and channel audits, SEO audits, competitive gap analyses, and conducting stakeholder interviews
  • Lead or collaborate with other strategists on auditing website content for large website migrations or redesigns
  • Developing information architecture (sitemaps, on-page content outlines, linking strategies etc.) and documenting with clear content governance
  • Create content marketing strategies, including omni-channel digital strategies, search and AI optimization strategies, and targeted campaigns (for lead-gen, awareness and/or lead nurturing)
  • Create messaging and content governance artifacts, including messaging frameworks for brand, product and/or campaigns; voice and tone guidelines; personas for content development and content journey maps; and editorial calendars
  • Develop workflows and related frameworks for client content operations across the content lifecycle to optimize for efficiency and effectiveness, including identifying opportunities for AI implementation
  • Create and deliver virtual presentations (PPT), lead virtual workshops or talks with clients and external audiences

Who you are

  • Have 3+ years experience in content strategy or content marketing in a healthcare environment; experience on an in-house hospitals / health system / academic medical center marketing team preferred
  • An analytical thinker who’s highly curious and collaborative
  • Have solid understanding of current search optimization strategies and tactics, including optimizing for AI visibility and agentic AI
  • Understand best practices for digital writing, content marketing, and content distribution
  • Understand the nuances of healthcare marketing
  • Be a lifelong learner, staying up to date on the latest happenings in SEO, AI, and channel marketing
  • Comfortable interviewing stakeholders and subject matter experts and presenting to client teams via video call platforms like Zoom
  • Experience creating and presenting slide decks; must have access to Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced, decisive environment where you’ll have autonomy.
  • A full-time freelancer with a U.S. social security or tax ID number
  • Willing to commit to work at least 10 hours/week on Aha Media Group projects; available for some meetings and interviews during standard business hours
