Calling Karen Karnes “detail-oriented” is a bit of an understatement. She spent years as a proofreader for a full-service marketing agency, honing her eagle eye to spot anything amiss in the copy.

As a Project Coordinator at Aha Media Group, Karen wields her keen attention to detail to make sure i’s are dotted, t’s are crossed, and clients are happy. She also has experience managing workflows — developing schedules and helping departments and team members communicate seamlessly to move projects forward. “I’m an everything-in-its-place kind of person. I love to make sure a project is well-organized for clients and the creative team,” she says.

Across a long career in marketing, Karen has worked on an assortment of subjects, but she’s especially inspired by healthcare marketing. “There’s always someone in your life dealing with a health issue who could benefit from the helpful, plain-language information that Aha Media specializes in,” she says.

Karen lives in West Des Moines, Iowa, with her husband and senior canines. “I have two dogs, but I want all the dogs,” she says. A mom and stepmom to five young adults, Karen is enjoying discovering new interests outside of parenting now that their brood is launched. “I love watching them grow into the adults they’re becoming — but I also love remodeling the basement now that no one lives there,” she says. When she’s not working on home improvement projects, Karen enjoys reading historical fiction and bingeing on true crime shows and podcasts.
